Bariatric Transport: What Makes It Different

Bariatric transportation is not simply a bigger van. It is different equipment, different training and a different plan for the doorway.
Equipment rated for the job
Bariatric vehicles use lifts, ramps and securement systems rated well beyond standard capacity. Using a standard vehicle outside its rating is unsafe for the rider and the crew, which is why we ask about weight and equipment at booking.
Crew and planning
Many bariatric trips are two-person jobs, and the plan starts at the doorway: door widths, turning space, thresholds and porch steps all get discussed before the vehicle is dispatched.
Dignity is part of the service
Riders tell us the hardest part of past transports was feeling like a logistics problem. Our crews are trained to plan quietly, move at the rider's pace and keep the conversation normal.
