Bariatric Transportation

Standard NEMT vehicles and lifts have weight and width limits, and being turned away at the door on the morning of an appointment is both frustrating and demeaning. We built our bariatric service so that never happens. When you book, dispatch confirms weight capacity, chair dimensions, doorway access and whether a second attendant is needed — before the trip, in a straightforward conversation, without judgment.

Our bariatric vehicles carry higher-rated hydraulic lifts, reinforced securement systems and wider loading platforms. Where a trip calls for it, we send two trained team members so lifting, positioning and transfers are handled with proper technique instead of improvisation. Drivers are trained in safe patient handling and treat every rider with the same courtesy they would want for their own family.

Bariatric riders use us for the full range of care: dialysis, bariatric surgery consults and post-operative follow-ups, wound care, physical therapy, imaging appointments that require specialized tables, specialist visits, hospital discharges and transfers between skilled nursing facilities. We also handle non-medical day trips for riders who simply want to get out of the house for a family event or an errand.

Because bariatric trips require specific equipment and sometimes an extra attendant, we ask for as much advance notice as possible — a day or more when you can. Same-week and same-day requests are still worth a call; we will tell you honestly whether we can cover the trip rather than leaving you waiting.

Pricing is quoted up front based on distance and the level of assistance required, and recurring riders such as dialysis and cancer patients travelling two or more times a week receive discounted standing rates. Call dispatch to talk through your needs and we will build a schedule around them.
