Wheelchair Transportation

For a wheelchair user, the hardest part of a medical appointment is rarely the appointment itself — it is getting there. Transferring in and out of a sedan is uncomfortable at best and unsafe at worst, and folding a power chair is not an option. JAX NEMT solves that with vehicles built for the job: a hydraulic lift, a level loading floor, and securement points that lock the chair down so it cannot shift when the vehicle brakes or turns.

Riders never have to transfer. The driver positions the lift, guides the chair on, checks the wheel locks, fastens four-point restraints on the frame and adds a separate lap and shoulder belt for the rider. That two-part system is the standard used in medical transport, and our drivers repeat the same check on every leg of every trip — including the return.

We accommodate manual chairs, transport chairs, heavy power chairs and scooters. If you are unsure whether your equipment fits, tell dispatch the make and approximate dimensions when you book and we will confirm the right vehicle before the day of the trip rather than surprising you at the door.

Wheelchair service is door to door and hands-on. Drivers help through doorways, thresholds, gravel driveways and unmarked hospital entrances, wait while riders are checked in, and can stay on site for short appointments. Common destinations include dialysis centers, oncology and infusion clinics, rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities, VA hospitals, wound care, imaging appointments, discharge rides home and long-distance transfers between facilities.

Vehicles are inspected and sanitized between trips, drivers are background checked and trained in passenger assistance, and pricing follows the same simple base-plus-mileage structure as our other services, with discounted rates for dialysis, cancer treatment and standing weekly schedules.
