A practical checklist for family caregivers coordinating a medical trip for a parent or spouse.

The night before

Lay out clothing and shoes that are easy to move in, charge any devices, put the insurance card and medication list in one bag, and confirm the pickup time. If the rider takes a diuretic, talk to the clinic about timing.

The morning of

Aim to be ready fifteen minutes before the pickup window opens. Keep the path from the bedroom to the front door clear. If a caregiver is riding along, tell dispatch ahead of time so the seat is reserved.

You do not have to go
