Most outpatient procedures require a responsible adult to take you home. Here is how to arrange that when family cannot be there.
Confirm the discharge rule
Surgery centers generally will not discharge a sedated patient to a rideshare or a taxi. Ask the center exactly what they require — many accept a scheduled medical transportation provider who signs the rider out.
Book both legs at once
Schedule the ride there and the ride home in the same call. Discharge times move, so give dispatch a realistic window and have the nurse call when the rider is cleared.
Plan the arrival home
