Why Pickup Windows Exist (And How To Use Them)

A pickup window is not vagueness — it is how a dispatch schedule absorbs real-world traffic without cascading into late arrivals all day.
What the window protects
Appointments run long, elevators are slow and I-95 does what it does. A short window at the front of each trip keeps one delay from pushing every rider after it off schedule.
How to use it well
Be ready at the start of the window, not the end. If the rider needs help getting ready, plan for that before the window opens so the driver is not waiting at the door.
When we call
If a driver is running behind, you hear it from dispatch rather than finding out at the curb. Reliable communication is most of what reliability means.
